Houseplant of the Month: Norfolk Island Pine

I’m excited to introduce a new feature on my blog: a monthly houseplant spotlight! I love all of my houseplants, and I want to show them some love by highlighting what makes each one special.

This month’s featured plant is the Norfolk Island Pine—though, fun fact, it’s not actually a pine at all! I received this little beauty as a gift during the holiday season, and while I considered decking it out with Christmas ornaments, I ultimately decided to let it shine in its natural form.

Since bringing it home, I’ve learned some interesting things about this plant. For starters, it can grow anywhere from 4 to 10 feet tall indoors. While 10 feet seems ambitious, reaching 4 feet would be a pretty cool milestone! Another fun fact? Norfolk Island Pines thrive in bright, indirect light but can adapt to lower light conditions—just don’t expect them to grow as quickly in dim spaces. And while they may look like they belong in a winter wonderland, they actually prefer warm, humid environments (think tropical vibes rather than snowy forests).

I really like its soft, feathery branches. It really has unique charm about it. I’m looking forward to sharing more of my plants in future spotlights—stay tuned for next month’s feature!
