It’s hard to believe, but my time in the Master Gardener internship program is drawing to a close—at least the in-class portion. We're down to the final weeks, and I’m feeling a mix of pride, gratitude, and excitement for what’s ahead.
This experience has truly exceeded my expectations. I’ve learned so much over the past few months, and I’m just incredibly thankful to have been given this opportunity. From weekly lessons to hands-on experiences, every moment has helped me grow as both a gardener and a lifelong learner.
Some of the most fascinating topics for me were vegetable gardening (of course!), IPM (Integrated Pest Management), trees, and botany. Each subject opened my eyes to just how interconnected everything in a garden really is.
We also had the chance to go on some incredible field trips—visiting the Memphis Botanic Garden, Dixon Gallery and Garden, and Lichterman Nature Center. Each location brought the coursework to life in such a vivid and inspiring way.
Now, I’m preparing for the final exam and working to complete the last 38 hours of required community service before officially graduating in August. It’s not quite the end yet, but I’m so proud of how far I’ve come and deeply excited about what’s still to come on this gardening adventure. Looking forward to the upcoming gardening season.🌿
